ABOUT
Josh Shelton is an Emmy Nominated filmmaker and client-facing Creative Producer.
Shelton has directed, produced and/or written series for Participant Media, Netflix, MTV, ESPN, PopTV, and DirecTV as well as a comedy special produced with Jerry Seinfeld at The Geffen Playhouse. He was nominated for a Sports Emmy as a producer on Netflix’s hit docu-series We Are The Champions (narrated by Rainn Wilson). In 2020, he directed two series for Participant Media, Show Your Shelf (hosted by Joel Stein featuring Rachel Bloom, Lois Lowry, Samantha Irby and other authors) and What They Really Think (surprise letters to loved ones during quarantine). Shelton is also a trusted collaborator with Twitter, as the showrunner/director for their global virtual events in 2020 and 2021, including IAB New Fronts 2021. As an independent producer, Shelton’s features and shorts have been official selections in SXSW, Cannes, and other film festivals internationally. His latest short film as a writer/director, GLITCH, is currently being submitted to festivals and online platforms.
For over a decade, Shelton has been at the forefront of the digital landscape as a Telly Award and YouTube Award Winning writer/producer/director creating content that has garnered over 50 million views. He served as the interim Head of Production for Participant Media’s digital division, SoulPancake, with whom he has extensive experience producing/showrunning branded campaigns since 2015. In this role, he worked directly with the entire leadership team to ideate, pitch and produce top tier content (both scripted and unscripted) across multiple platforms. Major clients he worked with directly include: Allstate, Sprint, Dennys, Lowes, Hersheys, ConAgra, and more.
As a songwriter/screenwriter, Shelton was hired to write the script, music and lyrics for "West Coast Story," an uplifting musical film with production company CreatorUp. Shelton's digital series @BirdExplores features over 15 of his original songs. In 2019, he sold an original musical-horror-comedy series to the groundbreaking interactive video platform EKO. He also wrote and performed the theme song to "Show Your Shelf."
