With a degree in Music Composition, Josh Shelton is always finding ways to bring the two worlds of film and music together in his work. 


Shelton was recently hired to write the script, music & lyrics for West Coast Story (2021), an uplifting musical film in the vein of In The Heights meets Ted Lasso. Shelton's ongoing kids series, Bird Explores (2020-present) features over 15 of his original songs. In 2019, he sold an original musical-horror-comedy series to the groundbreaking interactive video platform EKO. Shelton has written music and lyrics in all genres including pop, hip hop, rock, jazz and film scores. He composed A Cappella hip hop songs for the NYC Off-Broadway incubator, Ars Nova, with musical direction by Justin Mendoza (In The Heights, Book of Mormon). Shelton has performed as a trumpet soloist and bandleader extensively across the United States as well as in Europe and South America. He has also had the pleasure of playing in the opening bands for Ray Charles, Patti LaBelle, George Benson as well as hip-hop legends De La Soul, Biz Markie, and KRS-One.
