MUSIC DEMOS - POP & HIP HOP

With a degree in Music Composition, Josh Shelton has written music and lyrics in all genres specializing in hip hop, pop, r&b, rock, and jazz. Below are samples of his original POP & HIP HOP songs.

Shelton was hired to write the script, music & lyrics for West Coast Story (2021), an uplifting hip-hop musical film in the vein of In The Heights meets Ted Lasso. Shelton's ongoing kids series, @BirdExplores features over 15 of his original songs. In 2019, he sold an original musical-horror-comedy series to the groundbreaking interactive video platform EKO. Earlier in his career, he composed A Cappella hip hop songs for the NYC Off-Broadway incubator, Ars Nova, with musical direction by Justin Mendoza (In The Heights, Book of Mormon). Shelton has also performed as a trumpet soloist and bandleader extensively across the United States as well as in Europe and South America. As a performer, he had the pleasure of playing in the opening bands for Ray Charles, Patti LaBelle, George Benson as well as hip-hop legends De La Soul, Biz Markie, and KRS-One.
